The Fastest Way to build database applications

Clarion Rapid Application Development Tool, 4GL Language, Multi-user Database

The Clarion Development
SoftVelocity's Clarion family of Rapid Application Development tools produces high performance, commercial, mission critical quality, File server or Client server systems, Thin-client or Web enabled software with a fraction of the effort required by other tools. Clarion is the only product that creates 32-bit programs for Windows 3.x, 9x, NT, 2000, and XP and the Internet / Intranet / Extranet from a single repository, and with integrated Data Dictionary Designer, with native drivers to many database formats (Oracle, MS SQL, Informix, Btrieve, Pervasive SQL,…ASCII, DOS/Basic, xBase) and with integrated powerful multi-user databases (Topspeed, Clarion).

Read The Legend Story about Borland's founders! With superior compiler technology integrated Clarion, C++ and Modula-2 compilers from Borland’s founders (JPI) there can be various language modules mixed within a single application. The target Clarion application can be compiled as a standalone 16/32 bit executable file .EXE, or a library in .DLL, .LIB format. It can use an internal Topspeed file system database for smaller network installations, or utilize ODBC and native SQL drivers to connect to any other SQL database.

Old Clarion story in the InformationWeek MagazineClarion Cuts Down On Coding

Rapid development product automatically generates code usually done manually (Old story).

“Most rapid development products come with a wizard to create a starter application or give you a blank canvas to create the application from scratch. The problem with the starter applications is the results provide-at best-a 50% solution to the problem. You can easily view data, but even slightly complex interaction requires programmer intervention. With Clarion, a nonprogrammer with a couple of days of training can create an application-without programming-that provides a 90% solution. Your programming staff can quickly add the remaining 10%, the truly complex coding required to complete any application. The advantage you'll find with Clarion is better allocation of IS resources.”
Andy Feibus, a president of CustomBytes

Old Clarion story in the DBMS MagazineCatching Up with Clarion

Clarion for Windows generates client/server applications from templates and data dictionaries (Old story).

“I opened the box at 10:00 on a Saturday morning. By 4:00 that afternoon, I had worked my way through the tutorial and had a functional sales order-entry application with customer and item maintenance, and had added a few of my own twists to the script. That got my attention. I have since spoken to several developers who confirmed my first impressions about Clarion's ability to quickly create applications that have a great deal of functionality, as well as my concerns about the application model that Clarion employs.”
Tom Spitzer, a vice president of Advanced Products at SBT Accounting Systems

That is why so few
people engage in it!”

Customer Testimonials

“Clarion is a powerful computer programming language, and development environment, which we use for program development. We believe that to create database-centered programs there can be no easier and more efficient development tool!”
Simplified Software

“Clarion software has been available since the late 1980's when the original Clarion 1.0 for DOS was released. Various new releases of Clarion have been made since then and each release has seen Clarion leapfrog the capabilities of alternative software development tools, which is why Clarion is gaining in popularity whereas better known tools have fallen by the wayside.”
ComForMark

“I use Clarion to prototype business requirements and to then build production applications. In fact Clarion, as a Computer Aided Software Engineering (CASE) tool, is the only product I know that actually delivers on the promise of CASE: increased quality, increased productivity, decreased risk and decreased cost.”
Mike Gorman

“Any developer who has talents in any language can pick up Clarion in weeks, not longer. Might as well leverage that need.”
Russel Eggen

“Clarion is a tool best suited for independent developers with a strong programming background, looking for power and high-productivity development of mid-range business applications.”
Tom Spitzer
